about

Originally released 1999 in an edition of 400.
"Take the Water" was called "brilliant" by the label/distributor KRAAK in Belgium, while Alternative Press said "...slow motion and expressive...the gradually building atmospheres are frequently startling, like waking to find your bed floating downstream towards a waterfall."

REVIEWS
"Chicago release of a very low key nature. Takes acoustic guitar and places in the context of electronic and ambient recordings that involve weather and accidental sounds in the composition process to produce an unusually beguiling music." CORPUS HERMETICUM
"Repetitive and abstract... the guitar work ranges from faintly beautiful ghostly melodies to abrasive dissonance... "Astray" is an eerie, soupy masterpiece of dark ambient... the brief twangy songs "Rain Delay" and "Passing Light" are strangely honest pieces of psychedelic Americana" PITCHFORK
"Sparse and captivating, yet dissonant minimalism. In the same ballpark, as, say early Gaster Del Sol."
"... some beautiful acoustic guitar work... it soon becomes apparent that his style is all his own, not seemingly drawing from any one particular genre. As guitar tracks finish, more sounds appear: trains, tv preachers speaking in tongues, drones... and what becomes apparent is that what's being told are stories... this was a beautiful show." SKIPPYS CAGE
(LIVE REVIEW, 4/22/20, Music Club 4ad, Diksmuide, Belgium
"The settings here remind me of the same unsettling tone of Scanner's work, very subtle and moving in it's ebb and flow. A lot of effort went into this work and it shows. Very recommended for fans of this genre.". MILK
